Last week, Nicola Sturgeon announced that after the 15th of July, places of worship would be able to begin to open for corporate worship, with restrictions in place. We trust that our leaders have good reasons for this decision, and are determined to honour them. We will continue to follow our government’s guidance as they lead us out of lockdown, and into Phase 3.

On Sunday, 19th July, we began our steps to re-opening. There are now three options for gathering with us on Sundays:

1. Stay in your own home, and continue to enjoy worship, teaching, prayer and fellowship with our community online in your own household via

2. In accordance with government guidelines, you can invite up to two households to your home to enjoy the service together. Consider whether you have space to show hospitality to others and enjoy praying and worshipping together! If you do host a watch party, send us a selfie as we’d love to see you! Email or tag us on social media @rehopesouthside.

3. Register your interest for a spot to join us in the building as we live-stream our service.

If you would like to join us in our building on a Sunday, your worship experience will be very different than that it would have been pre-lockdown. However, we still find it special to be able to draw near to God in this way!

  • Only 50 people will be permitted to attend on a Sunday.

  • The service will be shorter, lasting only an hour.

  • We will need you to arrive 15 minutes early, to join a (socially distanced) queue outside. We know how we do this will be a testimony to our neighbours!

  • You’ll need to bring your own mask, and wear it while inside the building.

  • We’ll take your temperature before you go in, and check you in using Church Suite.

  • Our host team will give a warm welcome, and help you find a seat. Everyone will strictly adhere to social distancing guidelines.

  • 10 minutes before the service the doors will be closed, and we’ll do a short briefing before things begin.

  • Church will begin right on time!

  • Only the worship leader will be able to sing, and they will be behind a perspex screen. Those of us in the room will worship wholeheartedly and creatively - but without singing. Bring a journal if you’d like! We’re excited to see how God will reveal new ways to worship Him through this season.

  • For now, there won’t be prayer ministry in the room - but you can still access it online via your phone!

  • Toilets will be for emergency use only.

  • We won’t encourage mingling inside the building, and won’t have croissants or hot drinks. We do however encourage you to visit a local spot for a takeaway coffee after the service if you fancy, or (following the rules!) go for a walk, visit a local park etc.

  • We’ll collect shares before the service begins, and you can continue to email them in, but we won’t pass the share mic around.

  • For now, there won’t be kids ministry in the building, but we plan to have it available soon. Families can register to come together for the main service.

  • If you feel unwell in any way, please stay home and join us online!

If your favourite thing about gathering for church is singing loudly and drinking coffee with friends after, you may be disappointed! Think of this phase as a step towards re-opening, rather than resuming to how things used to be. Though the experience will be different, we are still excited about the opportunity to gather in God’s presence together, and meet with Him in this way.

We love you church, and can’t wait to see you when the time comes. Stay safe, and we’ll see you online or in the building soon.
